Perpetual Altas

The Perpetual Altas or the UPHSD Altas are the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) team of the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA. They are also popularly known as the Perps.

Since joining the NCAA in 1984, the senior varsity basketball team only made the NCAA Finals twice. In spite of the poor financial support, their biggest run was in the late 1980s, led by the "big three" Bong Hawkins, Eric Quiday, and Ronald Sy, against the SSCR Stags' "big three", Paul Alvarez, Eugene Quilban, and Nap Hatton. They are the only NCAA basketball team that joined in the 20th century that's still in the NCAA to have never won a men's basketball championship.

The Altas have been successful in other sports, winning titles in volleyball and in the NCAA Cheerleading Competition.

The senior varsity teams may also be referred to as the Altas. The juniors' team are the UPHSD Junior Altas (formerly the "Altalettes"), while the women's teams are the UPHSD Lady Altas.

Perpetual Altas is een Filipijns basketbalteam dat uitkomt in de University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). Het team is verbonden aan de Perpetual Help College of Manila in Las Piñas. De Altas zijn een van de succesvolste teams in de UAAP, met 10 kampioenschappen.

De naam "Altas" is afgeleid van het Latijnse woord "altus", wat "hoog" betekent. Dit verwijst naar de hoge verwachtingen die gesteld worden aan het team en het streven naar uitmuntendheid.

Het team staat bekend om zijn snelle en fysieke speelstijl. De Altas hebben een aantal getalenteerde spelers voortgebracht, waaronder de voormalige PBA-sterren Bongbong Marcial, Junthy Valenzuela en Gabby Espinas.

De huidige coach van de Altas is Frankie Lim. Hij leidde het team naar twee UAAP-kampioenschappen in 2013 en 2016.
