The Canterbury Rams are a New Zealand basketball team based in Christchurch. The Rams compete in the National Basketball League (NBL) and play their home games at Cowles Stadium. For sponsorship reasons, they are known as The Wheeler Motor Canterbury Rams.
De Canterbury Rams zijn een professioneel basketbalteam uit Christchurch, Nieuw-Zeeland. Ze spelen in de Nationale Basketbalcompetitie (NBL) en zijn een van de meest succesvolle teams in de geschiedenis van de competitie, met vier kampioenschappen.
Het team werd opgericht in 1982 en speelde oorspronkelijk in de Canterbury Basketball League. Ze traden in 1990 toe tot de NBL en wonnen hun eerste kampioenschap in 1994. Sindsdien hebben ze nog drie kampioenschappen gewonnen, in 1999, 2001 en 2006.
De Rams staan bekend om hun snelle, aanvallende speelstijl en hebben een aantal van de beste spelers in Nieuw-Zeeland gehad, waaronder Mark Dickel, Kirk Penney en Pero Cameron.
