Guatemala - Primera División

The Primera División de Ascenso is the second highest level of football in Guatemala. Formerly, it was known as Liga Mayor "B". It is sanctioned by the National Football Federation of Guatemala.

It is composed of two groups of ten teams each. The top 3 teams of each group go to the promotion playoffs. The bottom two teams of each group go to the relegation playoffs against each other. The winner stays, while the loser gets relegated and the winners of the Segunda Division will be automatically promoted.

**Guatemala - Primera División**

De **Liga Nacional de fútbol de Guatemala**, ook bekend als de **Primera División**, is de hoogste divisie van het Guatemalteekse profvoetbal. De competitie werd opgericht in 1942 en wordt georganiseerd door de Federación Nacional de Fútbol de Guatemala (FEDEFUT).

De Primera División bestaat uit 12 teams die strijden in een dubbel rond-robin toernooi. De beste zes teams na het reguliere seizoen kwalificeren zich voor de play-offs, waar ze strijden om het kampioenschap. De winnaar van de play-offs plaatst zich voor de CONCACAF Champions League.

De Primera División is een van de meest competitieve voetbalcompetities in Midden-Amerika en heeft een aantal gerenommeerde clubs voortgebracht, waaronder CSD Municipal, Comunicaciones FC en Antigua GFC. De competitie wordt ook gekenmerkt door zijn passievolle fans en intense rivaliteit.
